Great Tweaks for Vista

1. Disable TMM

This tweak is responsible for about a 3-5 second delay and blank screen flash when you start Vista. It searches for external monitors but is unnecessary.

If you are not using an external monitor, or don't switch back and forth always then turn TMM off. This is responsible for a 3-5 second pause and blank flash you get when turning your computer on.

Here's how to fix that annoying black flicker on boot:

  1. Go start/control panel/administrative options/task scheduler.
    1. On the left-hand side, click "Task Scheduler Local" (you should already be there, but just in case).
    2. Expand "Task Scheduler Library," then "Microsoft," then "Windows," then click "MobilePC."
    3. Up top, you'll see a task called "TMM." Click it, and on the right-hand side, click "Disable."
    4. You're done!

Start time reduced and blank flash gone!!!!

I loved that line so much I copied it, converted it to all caps and made it onto a title!

But seriously...

I need to reiterate a few things which may answer majority of your questions:
I will not sue because I can not sue.

My 5 colleagues and I are staff illustrators at the Wall Street Journal. The hedcut drawings we produce are hand drawn, pen and ink, spot illustrations, using a meticulous and laborious technique closely resembling old fashioned engravings. We base our drawings on photographic reference material, to which the Journal purchases usage rights. The paper owns the license and the copyright to all of our illustrations. Any decisions on legal action in this particular case, are solely theirs to make. For any inquires about Journal's affairs, you need to contact the paper directly. I will not comment on that any further.

However, I do want to participate in this conversation and answer more of your questions, so please don't think I'm ignoring the comment section. ( I have to make a living, you know. Dot by dot). I am intrigued by so many of your points, I wish I could be able to pursue this matter legally, although unfortunately, all signs point to what would turn out to be an unsatisfactory outcome for me. Now we are suddenly reduced to having poetic arguments about the ethics and the integrity of artists, but valid points can surely be made in my favor.

In reference to the Warhol argument. He has defined his artistic interpretation that refutes the legal term "substantial similarity". It's also known that Warhol came to terms with several of parties in question over this issue.
I want to bring up the case of Rogers v. Koons which sets precedent of substantial similarity. The element of size and media used bears no weight in the argument of copyright infringement. Koons lost his argument that the sculpture was a parody of Roger's photograph and of no substantial similarity. This decision, ruled in 2005 would prove difficult for many of Lichtenstein's earliest works, providing the copyright would have been executed by the party in question.
The art of appropriation seems to have no bearing if the artist can prove substantial similarity.

I appreciate all your great comments and input.

And to answer "Hayden" who asks: "His technique is amazing .. (I wonder if you've actually seen one of the works in the flesh)"
Hayden, I'd love to see the Obama wax! I'm sure it's impressive, but I'm afraid I'd find myself looking at my own drawing. Just bigger

It is highly unfortunate that what has reached us of Demotic papers about the first Ptolemaic age specially from the time of Ptolemy I and Ptolemy II is so little compared to what has reached us about the Greeks. It is probable that this is due to Egyptians not having a lot of dealings outside their environment. In addition, they only documented very few of their dealings with the occupiers and may have even been restricted to what relates to farming and renting of land. As for dealings that took place between Egyptians themselves, they were many and were related to diverse fields. Such documents kept increasing from the time of Ptolemy III who started ruling Egypt in 246 BC.

Ptolemy III started ruling the Egyptian Empire at the time when it appeared at it best. He continued ruling it with strength and wisdom till 221 BC. The general consensus is that Egypt reached its goriest time at the time of his reign. We find that he has extended the Egyptian Empire and succeeded in managing its internal affairs fairly well. He started his rule by adding a state to his Empire. After that, we find him carrying out the Third Syrian war in defence of his nephew’s throne. That was ended with his laying his hands on more land after making a peace treaty. After those wars, in which he found little resistance, Ptolemy III returned triumphantly back to Egypt.

THE VALENCIA CF (SPARTAN) MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO AGAINST FC BARCELONA CONTROVERSY

The VALENCIA CF sponsor wanted to utilize the upcoming game
against FC BARCELONA to promote its web & product, & on the
way build up support among Valencia fans to vibe up this grand
clash tomorrow. They elaborated this VIDEO, depicting Valencia CF
as Spartan warriors ready to take on the enemy FC Barcelona in
the “Mestalla Stadium” (Valencia):

Well it has created controversy, so much so that the “Anti Violence
Commission” for National Sport has ordered it be stopped from use
on TV & promotion. The Commission considers it promotes a “go to
War attitude” & may incite to violence between fans & "overheat"

the match between palyers with its images of strong tackles, the
infernal appearances & aggressive feel.

The sponsor has reacted to this by replacing the original video with
this new one:

Obvious sense of humour as Heidi is so “peaceful”. No doubt the
winner here is the sponsor with all this controversy & viral
marketing effect.

ROBINHO TO BE LOANED TO FC BARCELONA?

According to Catalonian based TV channel “TV3” & via its Sports News,
MANCHESTER CITY player ROBINHO will be loaned out to FC
BARCELONA
next January when the “Winter Market” transfer
window opens. Their sources were not said, thus it remains as

speculation.

The rumours have been ripe for days with a story alleging that
Barça was willing to pay 35M€ for a straight operation. Added to
this, news from England claims that Robinho has been pressuring
his Club seeing that he hasn’t a regular place in the current
Manchester City team & has not adapted to English life.

Stay tuned for further news & confirmations.

SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM WORTH 510M€

Futebol Finance asks the following question: What if someone wanted
to buy the whole 25 players that make up the Spanish National Team,
what will be the price? Following current market prices the figure
would be 510M€.

But “Futebol Finance” goes further & asks the same question for
Brazil (450M€) & France (440M€).
